Nearly two weeks later, Mt. Hebron seemed to pick up right where it left off. After sweeping the boys and girls team titles at the county championship meet in late January, the Vikings traveled to the PG Sports Complex Tuesday for the 3A East Regional meet and once again paced the county squads.
The Mt. Hebron girls won with a score of 78 points to edge Huntingtown (72), while the Viking boys (71 points) finished a close runner-up to Thomas Stone (78).
Reservoir (44) and Hammond (44) were the next best county finishers on the girls side with their tie for fourth place. Wilde Lake (60), Reservoir (59) and Howard (58) followed Mt. Hebron in spots three through five for the boys.

For those individuals who have qualified, the focus will now shift to the 3A state championships at the PG Sports Complex on Feb. 21.
The Mt. Hebron girls did nearly all of their damage in the running events, winning every event on the track aside from the 55-dash. Michaela Wilkins pulled off a trio of victories, running to first place in the 300 (41.53), 500 (1:17.95) and 800 (2:23.75). In addition, Karli Buescher captured the 1,600 (5:27.85) and Rachel Yep won the 3,200 (11:47.19).
Reservoir and Hammond didn't win any individual titles, but were boosted by their depth.
Hammond's day was highlighted by Nicole Dawson finishing in the top three in the 1,600 and 3,200, along with its 4x400 relay squad taking second. Reservoir was led by having a top four finish in each of the three relay races.
Other county winners included River Hill's Caitlin Davis (pole vault), Atholton's Natalie Alper (high jump), Howard's Christine London (55 hurdles) and Centennial's Tessa Seale (55 dash).
On the boys side, Thomas Stone won just two events on its way to the title, but capitalized on some tremendous depth. In nine different events the eventual winners had at least one top three finisher.
Mt. Hebron certainly made it interesting, though. Paul Haley (55 hurdles) and Spencer Owens (pole vault) each picked up victories. Then the Vikings also pulled in runner-up showings from David Yacynych (pole vault), Karl Schmidt (800), Nate Gainey (500) and their 4x800 relay to come within seven points of first.
Wilde Lake showed off its prowess in the distance events to edge its way into third place. Tim Virostek won the 800 (1:59.21) and 1,600 (4:26.77), while Duncan and Henry Enerson finished first and second, respectively, in the 3,200.
Other county winners among the boys were Howard's Josh Peoples (55 dash) and 4x200 relay squad, River Hill's Erick Soetje (300) and Reservoir's Timmy Usher (500).
