Clutch baskets by Katie Arensmeier and Megan Sterling helped River Hill hold off Mt. Hebron, 48-46, Friday night.
River Hill trailed at halftime, then took a 10-point lead, but saw that disappear. Twenty-one turnovers plagued the Hawks.
"We have got to protect the ball," said River Hill coach Teresa Waters, pointing out that the game was tied with 2-something minutes to go.
Kelly Jones almost single-handedly kept Mt. Hebron in the game. Her game-high 26 points included seven 3-pointers.
The two teams meet again Feb. 4 in the Howard County Women's Athletics Hall of Fame game.
