Oakland Mills' senior Jasmine Hill scored her 1,000th career point as the Scorpions defeated Hammond, 76-14, at home Wednesday night. Hill entered the game needing 22 points and finished with that amount.
She said she was surprised that she hit the scoring milestone, which came early in the third quarter. "I didn't know how close I was," she said.
The game was stopped for Hill to be honored for her achievement.
"I couldn't have done it without my teammates," Hill said. "They were looking for me and they were very encouraging."
Hill is the sixth girl in Oakland Mills school history to score 1,000 points.
