Eleanor Roosevelt scored the first seven points Monday against River Hill and never looked back, rolling to a 61-44 victory on the road.
Malachi Alexander (14 points) led the way for the Raiders, but overall it was a balanced effort that got the job done. Seven guys scored five points or more for Eleanor Roosevelt (13-3).
River Hill (2-11, 2-14) was led in the loss by the inside duo of Charlie Thomas (17 points) and Walt Moody (11).
Although the Hawks never led at any point, they did manage to keep things competitive the majority of the way.
After falling behind 7-0 in the first two minutes and 15-4 with just over a minute left in the opening quarter, River Hill rallied to score five straight points to get within six. By halftime Roosevelt had opened things up a little more, yet the 27-19 margin was still manageable.
The second half was more of the same, with the Raiders holding a lead between seven and 17 points the entire way but never completely putting the game away until the final three minutes.
