Columbia teen released from hospital after being hit by car

A Columbia teen was released from Johns Hopkins Children's Center on Wednesday after his bicycle was struck by a car in Columbia earlier this week.

Bayan Haseem, 14, was airlifted to the hospital after he was hit Monday afternoon while attempting to cross Governor Warfield Parkway.

Police were called to the intersection of Governor Warfield Parkway and Twin Rivers Road at 12:50 p.m. Police said Yyacheslav Guzeyev, 65, of Columbia, drove through a green light while headed southbound on Governor Warfield Parkway in a 2010 Nissan Murano and struck Haseem in the crosswalk.

Police said Haseem was crossing the intersection during a "Don't Walk" signal, when the light was red.

No charges have been filed, police said.
