Man accused of hiding in Sears after closing indicted on burglary, theft charges

A Burtonsville man accused of hiding in a Columbia department store until it closed and then stealing money was indicted Jan. 4 by a Howard County Grand Jury.

Daniel Ezekel Grant, 29, of the 4200 block of Dunwood Terrace, is facing one count each of second-degree burglary and theft, according to online court records.

He is accused of hiding in Sears at the Columbia mall on Nov. 14 and, after the store closed, prying open registers and taking cash.

Grant is also facing similar accusations in burglaries at Sears locations at White Oak Shopping Center in Silver Spring and Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg, according to T. Wayne Kirwan, spokesman for the Howard County State's Attorney's Office.
