New police satellite office opens in Owen Brown

The Howard County Police Department is holding a grand opening for its new Owen Brown satellite office on Tuesday, July 5 at 5 p.m.

The office, located in the Owen Brown Village Center off of Cradlerock Way, will be the department's sixth satellite office.

In 2009, the department created a community resource officer position for the Owen Brown area. Since then, Pfc. Sarah Miller has been working with the Owen Brown community, but has lacked a local office, said police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn.

"Having her housed there is really important. ... She was floating around doing paperwork in her car, and this gives her a location," said County Council member Jen Terrasa, whose district includes Owen Brown.
