A Laurel man is headed to prison for robbing a Jessup pharmacy at gunpoint last year.
Roy Lee Moore, 39, of the 7600 block of South Arbory Lane, pleaded guilty Feb. 21 at Howard County Circuit Court to one count of armed robbery, according to T. Wayne Kirwan, spokesman for the Howard County State's Attorney's Office.
Judge Lenore R. Gelfman sentenced Moore to 10 years, with five years of that time suspended. He has been credited with 154 days of time already served in jail, according to online court records. Moore also was sentenced to five years of probation following his release.
In a separate case that stemmed from his arrest, Moore pleaded guilty to one count of possessing a controlled dangerous substance. He was sentenced to a year and a day, to be served concurrently.
Moore was accused of robbing the Family Care Pharmacy in the 8600 block of Route 1 on Sept. 19, displaying a gun and making off with 2,500 pills of the prescription painkiller Oxycodone.
An accomplice, Stoni B. Horton, 35, of the 9400 block of Nicklaus Lane, pleaded guilty in January to one count of conspiracy to commit robbery. She was sentenced to five years behind bars, with four years of that time suspended.
