In Clarksville, Columbia and North Laurel, and from the eastern end of the county in Elkridge to the western part of the county in Woodstock, residents and business owners returned to find that burglars had broken in and stolen items.
Six burglaries were reported in those five towns over a three-day span between March 23 and March 25, according to a Howard County police daily crime bulletin.
In Woodstock on March 23, entry was gained to a home in the 10500 block of Abingdon Way between 2 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Electronics, jewelry, sports equipment and DVDs were reported stolen.
Also on March 23, entry was gained through a ground-level window into an apartment in North Laurel in the 9600 block of Barrel House Road. There were no signs of forced entry. A video game system was stolen. The burglary was reported at 9:12 p.m.
Elsewhere in North Laurel, entry was gained March 24 into a motel room at the Days Inn in the 9800 block of Washington Boulevard. The burglary occurred while someone was sleeping in the room between 12:01 and 6 a.m. A video game system and a cell phone were stolen.
In East Columbia, also on March 24, entry was gained to a home in the 6200 block of Deep Earth Lane by prying open a small rear window. The burglary occurred between 5 and 10 p.m. A jewelry box and the jewelry inside it were stolen.
On March 25 in Clarksville, entry was gained through a rear door to the Ruby Tuesday restaurant in the 6000 block of Daybreak Circle. Three bottles of alcohol were stolen.
Later that day in Elkridge, two people, one of whom the victim knew, were reported to have forced their way inside a home on the 8000 block of Paul Martin Drive and stolen a large toolbox and a hunting bow. The incident was reported at 7:30 p.m.
Other incidents in the most recent crime bulletin include:
• A robbery in East Columbia in the 5700 block of Oakland Mills Road, reported at 6 p.m. March 25. A juvenile said he was approached by two juvenile males, one of whom took his cell phone and mp3 player.
• A vehicle theft in West Columbia in the 5000 block of Columbia Road, reported at 3:02 p.m. on March 23. A red 2011 Honda CBR 600 was stolen.
