Police seek woman who stole package from Ellicott City porch

County police believe a woman caught on video stealing a package that had been dropped off on a front porch might also have taken packages from homes elsewhere.

The woman was spotted on a surveillance system at a house in the 8200 block of Weston Drive in Ellicott City, according to the Howard County Police Department.

A package was dropped off at 9:50 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 16. About 90 minutes later, a camera captured a blue, two-door sedan pulling into the driveway and a woman getting out of the passenger side, picking up the package, putting it in the trunk and then driving away, police said.

The woman is described as white, approximately 180 pounds, wearing a dark hooded sweat shirt with a white emblem on the chest, jeans and gray shoes, and with dark hair that is pulled back with a headband and possibly in a ponytail.

Residents should check their list of purchases that were to be delivered and see if any packages are missing, police say. They should also confirm that packages sent to others have arrived.

Police advised that If a delivery company says a package has been delivered but the recipient feels it might have been stolen, he should check other doors and with neighbors to see if it was left there, call the delivery company to confirm that the package arrived, and, if necessary, call police at 410-313-2200.
