The African American Coalition of Howard County is hosting a candidates forum Saturday, Feb. 18 at St. John the Baptist Church, 9055 Tamar Drive, in Columbia, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The forum is for candidates running for the Howard County Board of Education and the Fifth District Circuit Court. The Board of Education candidates forum will be held first.
The purpose of the forum, AACHC said in a news release, is to educate the public on candidates' positions and to help candidates get their message to the public.
Fourteen candidates — including three incumbents — are vying for three open seats on the Board of Education.
The League of Women Voters of Howard County will hold a debate for school board candidates on March 5 at 6 p.m. at the Board of Education building, 10910 Route 108. The organization will also sponsor a forum for Howard County's congressional and judicial candidates on March 8 at 7 p.m. at the George Howard building, in Ellicott City.
The primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 3.
