A community forum on the state of Lake Elkhorn will be held Tuesday, June 28 at 7 p.m. in Meeting Hall A of the Owen Brown Interfaith Center, in Columbia.
The event is being presented by a group residents who live along or near Lake Elkhorn. The group organized after dredging of the lake came to a standstill earlier this year.
The discussion will focus on issues like the lake's history, causes of its deterioration, water quality, dredging, watershed management and what role Elkhorn plays in protecting theChesapeake Bay.
The panel will consist of John McCoy, CA's watershed manager, Chick Rhodehamel, CA's vice president for community development and sustainability, Ned Tillman, chair of the Howard County Environmental Sustainability Board and Sherm Garrison, aquatic biologist and water quality program manager for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
