Howard County residents with unwanted or expired medications will be able to drop them off Saturday, Oct. 29, at any of eight sites.
The program is part of the Drug Enforcement Administration's National Take Back Initiative, which allows people to dispose of unwanted, unused or expired prescription and over-the counter medication safely, anonymously and for free.
In Columbia, the sites are at the police satellite offices in the Harper's Choice, Long Reach, Oakland Mills, Owen Brown and Wilde Lake village centers.
In Ellicott City, the site is at the Northern District police station at 3410 Court House Drive.
In North Laurel, the sites are at the North Laurel police satellite office at 9105 All Saints Road and at the Southern District police station at 11226 Scaggsville Road.
All eight sites will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The program cannot accept intravenous solutions, injectable medications or syringes.
