Construction crews working on county projects

Construction crews are working on projects across the county, and in some cases, their work may affect drivers' commutes. Some of the ongoing projects include:

• road striping for driving lanes and crosswalks on portions of county maintained roads. Drivers are advised to be patient when encountering a paint truck driving below the speed limit during striping and not to cross over newly painted lines because the paint is hard to remove. Road striping is expected to be complete by mid-October.

• reconstruction of an 18-foot retaining wall and two lanes along College Avenue in Ellicott City. College Avenue is closed at Ross Road, and traffic is being detoured using Route 103/Montgomery Road, New Cut Road and Bonnie Branch Road. The project is slated to be complete by late August. A recorded message at 410-313-3637 will provide traffic details and updates.

• construction of a 3,200-linear-foot sanitary sewer main in Columbia near Leaf Treader Way, Columbia Road and Ten Mills Road. Brief road closures may occur in the area during construction for material deliveries. Crews may need to use small underground explosives to remove rock in the sewer trench. If so, residents within the impacted area will be notified in advance of the detonations.
