Man imprisoned for attempted firebombing of Wilde Lake home

A Pikesville man was sentenced Thursday, Nov. 3 to five years in prison for attempting to firebomb his former girlfriend's Columbia home in January.

Al Darnell Moore, 35, pleaded guilty to a federal charge of attempted destruction of property by fire, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Moore admitted to being in a relationship with a 17-year-old girl who lived in a rental property in the 5100 block of Brook Way in Wilde Lake, according to a Justice Department news release and a copy of the plea agreement.

On New Year's Day, "Moore threatened the girl, telling her that she would not have a home to come back to because he was distraught that she was ending their relationship," the news release said.

On Jan. 5, Moore threw a lit bottle filled with combustible liquids toward the rear of the girl's home, the Justice Department said.

The bottle struck the top of a plastic fence surrounding a patio and fell to the ground, setting fire to a section of grass. A resident smelled something burning and put out the flames, the Justice Department said.
