Pedestrian struck by car on Snowden River Parkway

A Michigan man was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle Saturday, Aug. 20, on Snowden River Parkway in Columbia..

Howard County police say Jacob Carl Lanswerk, 27, of Boyne City, was crossing Snowden River Parkway near Snowden Square Drive at about 4:54 a.m. when he was hit by a northeast-bound 2004 Toyota Camry.

Lanswerk was transported by helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, arriving in critical condition. He had improved to serious but stable condition as of Monday afternoon.

Lanswerk was not at a crosswalk, police said. Investigators are looking into whether he was intoxicated at the time.

The driver of the Camry was not injured. The collision remains under investigation, police said.
