Twelve drivers were arrested on alcohol and drug charges during a sobriety checkpoint last week in Columbia.
Howard County police and Maryland State troopers conducted the checkpoint Aug. 19 on eastbound Route 175 at the intersection with Columbia Gateway Drive, according to county police.
A total of 844 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. Of those, 25 were pulled over for further scrutiny, leading to 10 people being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and two being charged with drug violations, police said.
