Sections of the path around Centennial Lake are closed for improvements, with other sections to be closed around the lake throughout the year.
The project is intended to prevent drainage problems in sections where standing water has deteriorated the paths. Those sections will be resurfaced, and in some spots the paths will also be elevated. Crews will also work with the land and drainage pipes to divert water, according to a county government news release.
The first part of the project, which has already begun, is in the west area of the park below the basketball courts and in a section of path between the park's west and north areas.
There will be signs in parking lots and around the lake letting people know which sections of path are closed. Detour routes will be offered when possible, but at times people will be forced to turn around, the news release stated.
The entire project is due to be completed by the end of the year.
