Howard County police are trying to identify a man they say tried to rob a woman at an ATM in Columbia.
The attempted robbery happened at about 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, at the Bank of America branch in the 9200 block of Old Annapolis Road, according to police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn.
The woman told police that she was with her 4-year-old child when a man approached her with an unknown weapon in his hand and demanded money, Llewellyn said. The woman then saw a cab pull up outside of the bank. She pointed at the cab and told the man that the police were there. The man then walked outside.
No money was stolen. The cab was not connected to the robbery, Llewellyn said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 410-313-7867.
