All travel lanes have been re-opened on the US Route 40 bridge across the Patapsco River, State Highway Administration officials said.
The closures were due to a nearly three-year renovation on the bridge, which links Baltimore and Howard counties. While the construction work will continue, requiring some temporary lane closures, two lanes in each direction will be open during peak travel times, officials said.
According to SHA administrator Melinda B. Peters, the renovation work preserved the bridge's arch and lengthened its service lifespan.
"While work continues, we urge drivers to continue to stay alert and drive carefully through the work zone area," Peters said.
