The following students have been named as recipients of the Gloria Washington-Wallace Young Leaders Scholarship for the 2010-2011 academic year:
Derek Altema, a graduate of Oakland Mills High School, will attend Georgetown University, in Washington, in the fall. He hopes to pursue a career in the medical field.
Trista Fields, a graduate of Long Reach High School, will attend Lesley University, in Cambridge, Mass., in the fall. She hopes to pursue a career in education as a teacher for students with special needs.
Ian Dalrymple, of Columbia, has been recognized at an end-of-year ceremony for outstanding achievement at Randolph-Macon Academy, in Front Royal, Va. He received the Most Improved Student Award for Drama. Dalrymple is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vince Dalrymple of Columbia.
