Carroll County Public Schools will participate in Maryland's Farm to School Program and the Maryland Homegrown School Lunch Week, Sept. 12-16.
The county is partnering with three county farms — Baughers, Deep Run Farm and Wikes Family Farm – to provide locally-grown fruits and vegetables such as apples, potatoes, peaches, cucumbers, corn and other items in the school cafeterias.
The Maryland Farm to School Program is also sponsoring a YouTube video contest for students. Students are encouraged to reflect on how eating locally affects Maryland farmers, the community and themselves. The deadline to submit the video is Sept. 20.
