Gary Bauer selected as president of Maryland Association of Boards of Education

WESTMINSTER — Gary Bauer, a member of the Board of Education of Carroll County, has been elected president of the Maryland Association of Boards of Education.

Bauer has been a member of the Board of Education of Carroll County since 1994 and has been a member of MABE since that time. He has served on or chaired several MABE committees, including the Legal Services Association and the Group Insurance Pool. He also completed MABE's professional development program.

"In my 17 years as a board member, I have come to realize it's not enough to just be involved with our own Boards of Education. We have to do more," said Bauer in his remarks at the conference. "Board members have to be involved not only at our local levels, but at the state and national levels as well."

The Maryland Association of Boards of Education is a private nonprofit that advocates for public education in Maryland, and has a membership that includes all 24 Maryland boards of education.
