Microbrewery fest reportedly canceled due to weather

The website for the Maryland Microbrewery Festival is reporting on Friday, Sept. 23, that the festival — scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24, at Union Mills Homestead, Westminster — has been canceled.

According to the site — the event was canceled due to the forecast for "severe weather conditions and possible flash flooding."

"We regret this decision and will refund through Paypal advanced ticket sales," according to the posting on the website — http://www.marylandmicrobreweryfestival.com.

On the Union Mills' Facebook page, the Union Mills Foundation Inc. added that, "Due to the historic (and continuing) rainfall this month, we sadly must announce that the Maryland Microbrewery Festival is being canceled this year.

"The grounds at the Homestead are just too saturated to hold the event."

There was no mention on either site of a possible rescheduled date, and no one could be reached at Union Mills for comment.

On the Facebook page, a recent photo gallery posted about two weeks ago depicts, "Flooding at the Homestead," and shows photos of areas of standing water at the site.

The festival was scheduled to be the 6th annual event, and traditionally includes 12 breweries with over 30 brands of beer, vendors, entertainment and seminars.
