Construction begins for 32 houses in Catonsville

Construction of what may be single-family houses has begun near the intersection of South Hilltop and Woodwind roads.

Baltimore County spokeswoman Fronda Cohen said the construction comes on the heels of a plan the county approved in 2006.

The original plan called for the construction of 32 detached single-family houses, Cohen said, but it is possible that the plan has changed.

The plot, which was recorded in 2008, had been zoned to include one house per acre, Cohen added.

According to the office of Councilman Tom Quirk, who represents District 1, which includes Catonsville, Richmond American Homes of Maryland is responsible for building the houses.

Repeated inquiries to the construction company, which has an office in Columbia, were not returned.
