Enthusiasm for a cooperative market that would sell organic food in Catonsville was high on Aug. 4 as more than 60 people attended a meeting about getting such an endeavor started.
Last month, Shannon Thomas, a Catonsville resident who came up with the idea for the co-op, said her goal was to draw 50 people to a meeting at the Catonsville Library, 1100 Frederick Road.
Sixty-two people attended the meeting, and 16 of those joined the co-op's steering committee, Thomas said in an email sent on Aug. 7.
The group's next step will be to form a buying club to food in bulk and receive discounted prices, according to the email.
Last month, Thomas said she hopes to have the co-op open to members and non-members.
In last week's email, she said it usually takes two or three years before that happens, but she hopes to do it faster.
