Santa to ride with Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department

Listen, boys and girls of all ages, for the scream of sirens from an Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department engine because it may signal a visit from December's biggest celebrity.

Starting Dec. 9 and continuing most nights until Dec. 23, Santa Claus will tour a neighborhood, hand out candy canes and update his list of naughty and nice.

Norm Simpkins, organizer of the annual event, said the tours will begin between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. and end before 9 p.m.

Simpkins encouraged families to come out to the sidewalk and take pictures as the truck drives by.

The neighborhoods Santa will tour include:

Dec. 9: Catonsville – Garden Ridge Road and Shady Nook Avenue

Dec. 10: Catonsville – Bloomsbury Avenue, Newburg Avenue and South Rolling Road

Dec. 11: No tour – Pancake breakfast with Santa Claus from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department

Dec. 12: Arbutus – Elm Road

Dec. 13: Make-up date in event of cancellation due to weather or emergency

Dec. 14: Wynnewood community

Dec. 15: Old Relay, including Viaduct Avenue and South Rolling Road

Dec. 16: Catonsville – Montrose and Hilton avenues

Dec. 17: CatonsvilleFox Hall Farm area, including Wilkens Avenue and South Rolling Road

Dec. 18: Make-up date in event of cancellation due to weather or emergency

Dec. 19: Arbutus - Leeds Avenue, Westland Boulevard and Courtney Road

Dec. 20: Make-up date in event of cancellation due to weather or emergency

Dec. 21: Arbutus – Poplar and Birch avenues, Shelbourne Road and Browns Terrace

Dec. 22: Arbutus – South Beechfield Avenue, Maiden Choice Lane and Leeds Avenue

Dec. 23: Arbutus – Sulphur Spring and Oakland roads
