Letter: No surprises as legislature continues growing government

Well, the rulers are in Annapolis again for their annual redistribution-of-wealth exercise.

This year, they will move to extort about $2 billion dollars from one group of citizens and give it to another group of citizens. Somehow, they believe that this is progress and growth.

It is the same $2 billion dollars just being spent by different people. I guess if some of the money is used to pay construction workers who are out of work, they will start paying taxes. How can they determine who on a new construction job came off the unemployment rolls?

It's just a shell game. What you will not hear anything about is reducing the size and scope of government.

Oh, they may eliminate some unfilled jobs and call it a savings, but that also is just a shell game. In fact, as in past years, the government will probably grow some.

With the same old leaders at the helm we really should not expect any changes. Why should they? After all they keep getting elected by their constituents and by the people in Annapolis that they rule.

It would be nice to see some new thoughts introduced into the process. I guess not this year.
