Throughout last fall and early winter, residents from the communities of Bloomfield, Baltimore Highlands, Lansdowne and Riverview met to conduct a feasibility study for a community development corporation in southwestern Baltimore County.
The study, made possible by a grant from Baltimore County, indicated that these communities could benefit from the creation of a development corporation..
A development corporation is a not-for-profit organization that promotes community development through a variety of activities in areas such as economic development, education, affordable housing and community organization.
Over the last few months, a steering committee of community leaders met to discuss the design, composition, duties and structure of the proposed organization.
This planned development corporation needs a name.
Residents of Bloomfield, Baltimore Highlands, Lansdowne and Riverview are encouraged to submit
suggestions for a name to SWBaltoCoCDCNameCompetition@gmail.com by Aug. 15.
If the steering committee chooses a suggested name or portion of a name, the person who submitted
the suggestion will be awarded a $25 gift card to a local restaurant.
