At the Churches: Strawberry treats a sweet reward for Saturday shoppers at Arbutus nonprofit's thrift store

Here's some berry good news from the seasoned cooks at Arbutus United Methodist Church, 1201 Maple Ave. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 2, an array of luscious strawberry desserts will be dished up, along with tempting lunch specialties. All will be priced to sell.

At the same site, flea mart tables will be set up on the back lot from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a variety of treasures. The Southwest Emergency Services' Betty Okonski promises that her bargain buys will include summer outfits, household necessities, holiday collectibles, toys and more. Every sale adds funds to the SWES community ministry.
