Short stacks for those longing for final feast before Lenten fast

"Fat Tuesday," preceding the start of the Lenten season, is rooted in history. To prepare their homes for the solemnity of the sacrificial weeks of Lent, devout cooks purged their larders of decadent fats and sweets, offering them up in one last feast. The Shrove Tuesday meals of today honor this ancient tradition.
