Baltimore Highlands: Outing to dinner theater to keep spirit of season alive after Christmas

The Lansdowne-Baltimore Highlands Senior Center offers a way to brighten the holidays with an outing to Toby's Dinner Theatre in Columbia from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, for a production of "White Christmas." Tickets cost $55.

August Raveio American Legion Post 195 invites the community to spend New Year's Eve at the post at 2603 Virginia Ave, Saturday, Dec. 31.

Dinner of ham steaks, scalloped potatoes, peas and carrots, rolls and desserts will be served from 8 to 9 p.m. At midnight, toast 2012's arrival with champagne. "Ultimate Sounds" will provide music until 1 a.m. John and Donna will lead karaoke. Event also includes a continental breakfast.

Pastor Sheridan Allmond and Sunday school superintendent Mikie Johnson of Christ United Methodist Church thank everyone who made the Christmas holiday a success as angel tree shoppers, making dinner and basket donations as well as deliveries.

Thanks also to those who helped with the live nativity scene, including workers with the manger construction plus readers, shepherds, angels, wise men and those who prayed for this annual project.

The Baltimore County Commission on Women is accepting recommendations for its annual Woman of the Year and Young Woman of the Year awards. Elected officials are not eligible.

The winners are recognized for outstanding achievements and providing creative solutions to complex social and community challenges.

Nominees must reside in the county, contribute to the betterment of their community and act as role models. You must be a high school senior to be nominated for the Young Woman of the Year award.

Jan. 13 is deadline for nominations. The awards presentation will be held in March.
