Local household welcomes Veterans Day

With Veterans Day Friday, Nov. 11, this is a fitting time to honor the men and women who served our country.

On Oct. 27, the family of Rob Masevicius, of Baltimore Highlands, welcomed him and his Army Reserve unit back from a year's overseas tour in support of Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation New Dawn. The group served with honor in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait.

Our community thanks Rob for devoting 30 years to protecting our country.

American Legion Post 195, 2603 Virginia Ave., will host a dinner-dance fundraiser from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Nov. 19. Proceeds will used to purchase supplies for filling Christmas baskets. "Vintage" will provide music. On the menu will be roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and dessert with a limited open bar. A $15 donation is suggested plus a nonperishable food item.

Frank and Tricia Curreri will present a Frank Sinatra-Patsy Kline show at the Lansdowne-Baltimore Highlands Senior Center, 424 Third Ave. at 12:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21.

At noon, a pasta bar will be available, featuring Italian sausage, ground beef, mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, alfredo and marinara toppings, garlic bread, amaretto chocolate pudding, juice and milk for $7.

To reserve a spot for the day's activities, call 410-887-1443 before Nov. 14.

Lansdowne United Methodist Church, 114 Lavern Ave., invites neighbors to a free Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 24. All the traditional foods will be prepared.

The English Consul Volunteer Fire Department, at 2827 Michigan Ave., is conducting a family photo project. Summit Productions will tour our community, offering a $70 value for $30 with all proceeds benefiting the department. If you don't feel comfortable with such a door-to-door service, call department president Denise Condon, 410-636-4434, to express your concern.

This year's annual live Nativity scene will be set up in the parking lot at Christ United Methodist Church, 2832 Florida Ave., at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10. Light refreshments will be served.
