A safety seminar for our community is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 27, 6-9 p.m., at Christ United Methodist Church, 2832 Florida Ave. All are invited to attend.
Crime and fire prevention will be discussed, child identification cards distributed and flu shots given.

Fun on menu
American Legion August Raveio Post 195, at 2603 Virginia Ave., sponsors a Halloween dance Saturday, Oct. 29 from 7 p.m to midnight.
"Old School" will provide music.
Dinner will be served until 8 p.m., including meat loaf, lima beans, mashed potatoes with gravy, dessert, beer, sodas and limited open bar.
Tickets cost $15. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes.

Lansdowne United Methodist Church, 114 Lavern Ave., invites area residents to the roast pork supper, Saturday, Nov. 12, 3:30-7 p.m.
Adult dinners and carry outs cost $10; children 6-12 pay $5.

Not too early to think of Christmas
Mikie Johnson at Christ United Methodist Church, 2833 Florida Ave., is already beginning preparations to distribute Christmas food baskets.
Donations of canned yams, stuffing, cranberries, corn, carrots, peas, mixed vegetables, green beans, gravy, soups, fruit, tuna, ham, noodles, rice, tomato sauce, desserts and drinks would be welcomed.
