Christ United Methodist Church, 2832 Florida Ave., welcomes the fall season Sept. 9 with a Friday Fun Night, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a light dinner. Youth and adults will play games under Mikie Johnson's supervision.
• On Saturday, Sept. 10, the church hosts its fifth annual harvest festival and outdoor flea market, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Food and drinks, face painting and a dunking booth will be available, along with Rudy, the ventriloquist, the Lorzano Family singers and Kingdom Seekers.
Elaine Rogic has spaces with tables renting for $15, or bring your own and pay $10.

• Sunday, Sept. 11, marks the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on our country. Pastor Sheridan Almond invites the community to join in prayer, 9 a.m., that God will protect us in the future.
At 10:30 a.m., Mikie Johnson will inaugurate the new Sunday school program. Doughnuts, coffee and hugs will greet all participants.
Fundraisers for firefighters
The English Consul Volunteer Fire Department, 2827 Michigan Ave., will sponsor a Brotherhood Bash for youngsters from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. The $5 fee covers food, games, prizes and music by a deejay. T-shirts will be sold for $15. All proceeds will benefit fallen firefighters and police officers.
A second fundraiser, "Guns and Hoses," is set at the station from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., commemorating the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice on Sept. 11, 2001. For a $25 donation, pit beef, ham and turkey, hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, and beer will be prepared, as well as games and raffles.

The Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department, near Southwestern Boulevard and Linden Avenue, will sponsor a flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17. Single tables rent for $10 or two for $15.
