Patterson Mill's first appearance in a region dual meet championship ended after one meet. The Huskies, second seed in the Class 1A-2A east region tourney, lost to third seed Queen Anne's, 37-28, Wednesday evening at Salisbury's Parkside High School.
Top seed Parkside was also ousted in the semifinals, losing to fourth seed Wicomico, 45-31. Wicomico then beat Queen Anne's, 30-25, in the region final.
The meet didnt start off too well for the Huskies after two losses. Chase Tallon was pinned at 106 pounds and Will Urban dropped a 14-6 major decision at 113.
Despite the early losses, the Huskies were in a 22-22 tie with four matches left to wrestle. Unfortunately, Patterson Mill lost three of the four to get eliminated.
The Huskies battled back with wins at 120 and 126. Mark Mossa earned a 15-0 technical fall win at 120 and Jake Nikkila followed with a 13-2 major decision at 126.
At 132, Patterson Mill's Lawrence Swartz lost by pin, but Jason Noss answered for the Huskies at 138, with a pin.
Thomas Trzeciak also won at 145, by 9-3 decision, but David Mitchell wasn't so fortunate at 152, losing 7-4. Nick Roney's 13-3 major decision win at 160 and Ian Williams' 9-2 loss at 170, locked the score at 22 all, setting up the unfortunate finish.
Tyler Mackechnie, 182, and Corey Myers, 195, were both pinned and Connor McLeod was beaten 6-0 at 220.
The Huskies won the final bout at 285, with Mike Dasheill taking a forfeit.
Patterson Mill's appearance marks just the third by a Harford County team since the dual meet championship's inception in 1994.
Bel Air won the 1A-2A state title in 2010, while Harford Tech reached the semifinals in 2005.
Rams lose close one
In a Tuesday meet, Edgewood fell at Mount Carmel, 36-33, in a tight non-league dual meet.
Noel Spencer, 120, Demetrius Parachis, 170, and James Brennan, 285, each collected pins for the Rams, while Marcus Gash won 6-4 at 160. Connor Head, 132, and Sam Cantler, 195, were winners by forfeit.
