Wednesday turned out to be a tough day for the John Carroll boys soccer team, which lost, 4-0, to visiting McDonogh in MIAA play.
McDonogh scored its first of three, first-half goals in the 20th minute and added the fourth and final goal early in the second half.
The Patriots tried to get a goal back, but conceded a counter attack to McDonogh. The Eagles capitalized on the opportunity in the sixth minute for the final goal.
Kevin Gambrell had 10 saves for the Patriots, including five on shots that came from inside the box.
The Patriots will be back in action at Mt. St. Joe at 4 p.m. Friday.
