All Harford County Public Schools evening activities were canceled Wednesday after it began snowing lightly. By Thursday morning, however, roads were clear and the only remnants of the snow could be found on grassy areas and roofs.
What amounted to the third snowfall of winter 2012 once again failed to accumulate even an inch of the white stuff. The snow tapered off to flurries by mid-Wednesday evening.
There were no serious incidents reported across Harford County while the snow was falling; however, there was a fatal accident on Route 1 in Perry Hall late Wednesday that caused delays and detours for many homebound Harford County commuters. Police said the victim was a 30-year-old Edgewood woman.
Harford County Public Schools Manager of Communications Teri Kranefeld sent out an e-mail alert Wednesday afternoon canceling all evening activities and evening alternative education classes due to recent snowfall.
School classes still ended at their normal time Wednesday afternoon.
Snow fell intermittently in and around Bel Air throughout the afternoon, as temperatures hovered around freezing.
Among Wednesday's canceled events was the county boys swim championship at Magnolia Middle School. It has been rescheduled for Thursday evening.
The Patterson Mill High School wrestling team was en route to Parkside High School near Salisbury for the Class 1A-2A East Region dual meet championship meet before the Harford activities were canceled. The meet went on as scheduled, but the Huskies fell to Queen Anne's in the semifinal.
