Harford jail inmate taken to hospital after medical emergency

An inmate of the Harford County Detention Center was taken to the hospital Monday evening after she was found unresponsive in confinement, a sheriff's office spokesperson said.

Around 4:30 p.m. Monday, inmate Wendy Doyle, 51, was found unconscious in her area of confinement, according to Monica Worrell, public information specialist with the Harford County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office is responsible for operating the detention center.

"She was unresponsive and she was sent [to the hospital] as a precaution per detention center protocols," Worrell said.

She was taken by ambulance from the detention center under guard to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air and returned to the detention center around 9 p.m.

Doyle's unconscious state was medical in nature and there was nothing suspicious or violent about the incident, according to Worrell.

Doyle, who has an address in the 600 block of Harvest Court in Bel Air, is serving a 90-day sentence for driving under the influence of alcohol, according to court records.
