The truck driver involved in the train accident last week will be charged in connection with the incident, police officials say.
Last Friday morning, James Lloyd McDaniel, driving a flatbed truck, crossed the CSX tracks on Joppa Road and hit a train. The train didn't derail, but McDaniel was injured in the accident and transported by the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company ambulance to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore.
The driver told emergency responders he did not see the crossing's warnings lights, according to a release from the Harford County Sheriff, but the train conductor said the crossing lights, locomotive lights, horn and bell were all operational.
McDaniel will be charged, according to Capt. Keith Warner, but at a later date, with one of the charges, he believes, related to failing to stop at a controlled rail signal.
