Harford County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a flipped vehicle near Harford Mall during the height of the Wednesday evening homeward commute.

Sheriff's deputies received a call at 4:51 p.m. of a car flipped over in the 200 block of North Tollgate Road with people trapped inside, according to Monica Worrell, spokesperson for the sheriff's office.

Preliminary investigation showed that it was a one vehicle accident, Worrell said, with a 17-year-old female driving. The vehicle did flip, but the girl, whose name was not available, was able to crawl out herself with no serious injuries, Worrell added.

She was transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center for precautionary reasons, Worrell said, and traffic going north on Tollgate was detoured for about an hour.

The area where the accident occurred is heavily traveled, even though Tollgate is a narrow, two-lane road with twists and turns. The road was wet from the afternoon rain when the accident occurred.
