Swimming: CMW, Patterson Mill, Bel Air close out 2011 with victories

The C. Milton Wright swim team stormed to a combined 250-81 victory over the North Harford Hawks in Tuesday's dual meet at North Harford Middle.

Bernie Chang won the boys 50-yard and 200-yard freestyle races for CMW, while teammate Kyle Paxton took top honors in the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard freestyle. Ryan Pellegrino was a double individual winner for the Mustang boys, winning the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke.

Lauren O'Mara won the girls 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle events, while Rachel Flint beat the field in the girls 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard medley.

The Mustangs also had individual victories from Robbie Beichler in the boys 200-yard medley, Zoey Friedel in the 50-yard freestyle and Ida Ehrhardt in the girls 100-yard butterfly. Katie Gallagher raced to first in the girls 100-yard freestyle for CMW, Darren Slotnick won the boys 500-yard freestyle and Emily Jordan earned first in the girls 100-yard breaststroke.

Huskies tops at tri-meet

Competing at Magnolia Middle School Tuesday, the Patterson Mill Huskies came out on top of a tri-meet, topping Joppatowne, 125-62, and Aberdeen, 123-62.

Joppatowne won its matchup with Aberdeen, 107-78.

Sydney Thompson won twice for the Huskies, taking top honors in the girls 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle. Jordan Raymond won the girls 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard medley, while fellow Husky Bailey Senior won the girls 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard freestyle. Jordan Johnson took top honors in two events, winning the boys 200-yard medley and 100-yard breaststroke.

Patterson Mill's George Roros started the meet's individual events with a win in the 200-yard freestyle, Ayana Phillips won the girls 50-yard freestyle for the Huskies, and Brendan Mahoney beat the field in the boys 100-yard freestyle. The Huskies' Emily Hirschman won the girls 100-yard freestyle.

Joppatowne's Dale Marx won the boys 50-yard freestyle and teammate Jeremy Clark took first in the boys 100-yard butterfly.

Aberdeen's Marco Prezioso earned a first-place finish in the boys 100-yard backstroke, while teammates Tyler Hutchens and Cora Summerfield swept the 500-yard freestyle events, taking first in the boys and girls races, respectively.

Bobcats tops Tuesday

The Bel Air Bobcats won Tuesday night's tri-meet at Edgewood Middle School, defeating Harford Tech, 106-81, and Edgewood, 121-67.

Bel Air's Taylor Chan won the girls 200-yard medley event, while Tyler Luby took top honors in the boys 50-yard freestyle. Macey Nitchie beat all opponents in the girls 50-yard freestyle for the Bobcats, Chris Wilson helped the winning cause with a victory in the boys 100-yard freestyle and Erika Armetta raced to first in the girls 500-yard freestyle.

Harford Tech's Brandon Carestia won the boys 100-yard backstroke and 500-yard freestyle, while teammate Justin Carestia earned top finishes in the boys 200-yard medley and 100-yard breaststroke. The Cobras' Katie Doleschal won the girls 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard butterfly, while Megan Doleschal picked up victories in the girls 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard freestyle. Jake Zeigler won the boys 100-yard butterfly for the Cobras.

Edgewood's Jordan Jandreau won the girls 100-yard freestyle and Sydnee Holquist won the girls 50-yard freestyle.
