Bel Air's swim squad came home with an overall dual-meet victory Tuesday night, topping Aberdeen, 216-112, at Edgewood Middle School.
Erika Armetta led the Bel Air girls team, winning both the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard backstroke, while Dan Lurie was the Bobcat boys top individual performer, taking first in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke.
The Bobcats' Daniel Tamayo won the boys 50-yard freestyle, Hannah Stambaugh took first in the girls 100-yard freestyle, James Cousler finished first in the boys 500-yard freestyle and Macey Nitchie won the girls 100-yard breaststroke.
Aberdeen's Cora Summerfield won the girls 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, while Tyler Hutchins and Allie Haag took first in the boys and girls 200-yard freestyle races, respectively. Alec Steiger won the boys 200-yard individual medley for Aberdeen, while Justin Nengel beat the field in the 100-yard butterfly. Stephanie Verk took first place in the 500-yard freestyle for the Eagles and Marco Prezioso won the boys 100-yard backstroke.
Fallston tops North Harford, Joppatowne
Swimming at Magnolia Middle School in a Tuesday tri-meet, the Fallston Cougars earned overall victories against North Harford and Joppatowne.
The Cougars topped North Harford, 108-80, and beat Joppatowne, 113-74. North Harford won its matchup with Joppatowne, 100-84.
Fallston had a trio of double individual winners in Austin Appel, Madison Brown and Sarah Roesner. Appel took top honors in the boys 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, while Brown was first in the girls 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly and Roesner beat the field in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle.
The Cougars' Grant Burgess won the boys 200-yard individual medley, while teammate Jacob Ryan finished first in the boys 100-yard freestyle. Fallston's Sam Burgess won the boys 500-yard freestyle, and Ryan Hutchens won the boys 100-yard breaststroke.
North Harford's Zoey Friedel won the girls 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.
Jeremy Clark raced to first in the boys 50-yard freestyle for Joppatowne, while the Mariners' Sarah Appel earned a victory in the girls 100-yard freestyle, and teammate Tyler DiBastiani won the boys 100-yard backstroke. Joppatowne's Dana Smilko took top honors in the girls 100-yard breaststroke.
