Swimming: Havre de Grace closes out regular season with wins at tri-meet

In their final regular-season event of the 2011-12 campaign, the Havre de Grace Warriors topped Joppatowne, 150-38, and Aberdeen, 132-53, during a Monday-night tri-meet at Magnolia Middle.

With the pair of wins, the Warriors wrapped up the season with a 20-1 overall record. Havre de Grace's lone loss came at the hands of the undefeated C. Milton Wright Mustangs.

Leading the way for the Warrior boys were Robbie Orzewicz and Renz Amato, who won two races apiece. Orzewicz took top honors in the 200-yard medley and 100-yard breaststroke, while Amato won the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events.

The Havre de Grace girls were paced by Allissa Lyons, who topped the field in the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.

Brett Jewell won the boys 200-yard freestyle for the Warriors, while teammate Alyssa Smith took first in the girls 100-yard butterfly. Carrie Amato earned a first-place showing in the girls 100-yard freestyle, while Robert Bringardner helped the winning cause with a victory in the boys 500-yard freestyle. Hunter Infeld won the boys 100-yard backstroke and Brianna Clarke earned the Warriors their final individual victory of the night, winning the girls 100-yard breaststroke.

Aberdeen's Lauren Drumm won the girls 200-yard medley, while teammate Cora Summerfield picked up a victory in the girls 50-yard freestyle. Justin Nengel was the Aberdeen boys team's lone individual winner, taking first in the 100-yard butterfly.

Warriors win at quad-meet

The Havre de Grace swim squad picked up three more victories at a quad-meet on Friday night, defeating North Harford, 187-151, Harford Tech, 230-97, and Edgewood, 241-94, at North Harford Middle School.

North Harford knocked off Harford Tech 207-123, and topped Edgewood 232-99, while Harford Tech and Edgewood ended in a 161-161 tie.

The three victories brought the Warriors record for the season to 18-1.

Infeld picked up victories in the boys 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke for Havre de Grace, while teammate Renz Amato took top honors in the boys 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races.

Jewell helped the winning cause with a first-place finish in the boys 200-yard freestyle, and Smith beat the field in the girls 100-yard butterfly.

Havre de Grace's Lyons won the girls 500-yard freestyle, Carrie Amato notched a victory in the girls 100-yard freestyle and Orzewicz earned Havre de Grace's final individual victory of the night, taking first in the boys 100-yard breaststroke.

North Harford's Robbie Beichler took first in the boys 200-yard medley and 500-yard freestyle events, while Becky Jump won the girls 200-yard medley and 100-yard backstroke for the Hawks. Haley Jacobs earned a victory in the girls 200-yard freestyle, while teammate Zoey Friedel won the girls 50-yard freestyle.

Harford Tech's lone victory came from Katie Doleschal, who won the girls 100-yard breaststroke.
