Swimming: Patterson Mill tops North Harford in dual meet

The Patterson Mill Huskies edged the North Harford Hawks, 178-151, for a combined victory in Monday's swim battle at North Harford Middle.

Patterson Mill won the girls events, 101-69, while the Hawks boys squad came through with an 82-77 win.

The Husky girls squad was led by Sydney Thompson, who raced to victories in the 200-yard medley and 100-yard backstroke. Dan Zablocky picked up two wins for the Patterson Mill boys, taking first in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke, while teammate Jeff Adams also grabbed a pair of individual victories in the boys 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly.

The Huskies' Joe Borowski won the boys 50-yard freestyle, and Katie Kirkwood grabbed a victory in the girls 100-yard butterfly for Patterson Mill. Emily Hirschman helped the winning cause with a first-place finish in the girls 500-yard freestyle, and Patterson Mill's Brendan Mahoney won the boys 100-yard backstroke. Ayana Phillips earned the Huskies' final individual win of the evening in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Zablocky, Adams, Borowski and Mahoney won the boys 400-yard freestyle relay. In the boys 200-yard medley relay, Adams, Borowski, Mahoney and Ed Sheu took first place, while the girls 200-yard medley relay saw the Husky team of Thompson, Phillips, Kirkwood and Bailey Senior race to victory.

North Harford was led by Haley Jacobs, who took first in the girls 200-yard and 100-yard freestyle races, and Robbie Beichler, who earned top finishes in the boys 200-yard medley and 500-yard freestyle. The Hawks' Zoey Friedel won the girls 50-yard freestyle.

The Hawks swept the 200-yard freestyle relay races. The boys event was won by the team of Beichler, Brody Dannenfelser, Max Wilson and Matt Ward, while Sarah Fannin, Brooke Sexton, Sam Groff and Katelyn Linson grabbed first in the girls event.

Sexton, Jacobs, Friedel and Becky Jump grouped up to win the girls 400-yard freestyle relay.

Warriors tops at tri-meet

Competing at Magnolia Middle School Friday, the Havre de Grace Warriors swam to a pair of combined victories over Bel Air and Joppatowne, beating the Bobcats, 115-73, and Mariners, 141-44.

In the matchup between Bel Air and Joppatowne, the Bobcats came out on top, 120-66.

Robbie Orzewicz and Carrie Amato were the Warriors top individual contributors, with each winning two races. Orzewicz won the boys 100-yard medley and 100-yard breaststroke races, while Amato took top honors in both the girls 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.

Renz Amato won the boys 200-yard freestyle for Havre de Grace, while teammate Alyssa Smith finished first in the girls 200-yard freestyle.

Havre de Grace's Nicholas Pippin won the boys 100-yard butterfly and Allissa Lyons grabbed a first-place finish in the girls 100-yard butterfly for the Warriors.

Chris Worrell beat the field in the boys 100-yard freestyle, while fellow Warrior Daniel Schoeberlein earned a first-place finish in the boys 500-yard freestyle. The Warriors' Steven Ashman took first in the boys 100-yard backstroke.

The Havre de Grace boys team of Schoeberlein, Pippin, Ashman and Renz Amato won the boys 400-yard freestyle and 200-yard medley relays, while Orzewicz, Worrell, Schoeberlein and Renz Amato took first in the boys 200-yard freestyle relay.

Bel Air's Macey Nitchie won two individual races, knocking off all competitors in the girls 200-yard medley and 100-yard breaststroke races.

Bel Air swimmers swept the 50-yard freestyle races, with Taylor Chan winning the girls event, and Bryce McGuire taking first in the boys race. Bel Air's Erika Armetta won the girls 500-yard freestyle.

Armetta, Nitchie, Chan and Grace Walker won the girls 200-yard medley relay. Chan, Armetta, Hanna Stambaugh and Hannah Moore took first in the girls 400-yard freestyle relay, while Stambaugh, Moore, Chan and Nitchie raced to a top finish in the girls 200-yard freestyle relay.

Mustangs stampede Cougars

The C. Milton Wright Mustangs won Friday night's dual meet at North Harford Middle School, topping the Fallston Cougars, 238-101.

The Mustang girls and boys squads both had two swimmers with a pair of individual victories.

Darren Slotnick won the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle events, while CMW boys teammate Kyle Paxton took first in the 200-yard medley and 100-yard breaststroke.

Danielle King topped the field in the girls 200-yard and 100-yard freestyle races, while fellow Mustang Rachel Flint notched wins in the girls 200-yard medley and 100-yard backstroke.

CMW's Kyle Paxton was victorious in the boys 200-yard medley race and Ian Kearney took first in the 50-yard freestyle for the Mustangs.

Gabby Jordan won the girls 50-yard freestyle and teammate Emily Jordan helped the winning cause with a victory in the girls 500-yard freestyle.

CMW's final individual win of the night came in the girls 100-yard breaststroke, which was won by Monica Youn.

The boys 200-yard medley relay was won by the CMW team of Paxton, Slotnick, Jordan Wells and Ryan Pellegrino.

The Mustang squad of Gabby Jordan, Emily Jordan, Jamie Hruz and Taylor Nesbit notched a win in the girls 200-yard medley relay.

Kearney, Wells, Bernie Chang and Tyler Dellaratta won the boys 200-yard freestyle relay, while Flint, King, Moira Espinosa and Brittany Minsky won the girls 200-yard freestyle relay.

Paxton, Slotnick, Kearney and Pellegrino teamed up to win the 400-yard freestyle relay. Gabby Jordan, Mary Cate Espinosa, Hruz and Flint took first in the girls 400-yard freestyle relay.

Fallston's Austin Appel won the boys 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard butterfly. Grant Burgess had a victory in the boys 500-yard freestyle for the Cougars.

Hawks top two opponents

The North Harford Hawks raced to a pair of victories during Friday's tri-meet at Edgewood Middle, knocking off Edgewood, 127-60, and the Aberdeen Eagles, 108-78.

Aberdeen came out with a win over Edgewood, topping the Rams, 100-83.

North Harford's Robbie Beichler picked up a pair of victories, winning the boys 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard medley.

Zoey Friedel won the girls 50-yard freestyle for the Hawks, while Haley Jacobs earned North Harford a win in the girls 100-yard freestyle. Becky Jump topped the field in the girls 100-yard backstroke, which turned out to be North Harford's final individual victory of the evening.

The North Harford squad made up of Friedel, Jacobs, Jump and Stephanie Wilson won the girls 400-yard freestyle relay, while Nicole Racine, Brooke Sexton, Sam Groff and Sarah Fannin won the girls 200-yard freestyle relay for the Hawks.

The boys 200-yard freestyle relay was won by the North Harford team of Beichler, Brody Dannenfelser, Matt Ward and Max Wilson, and the girls 200-yard medley relay saw the North Harford team of Jump, Friedel, Jacobs and Emily Boegner take top honors.

Aberdeen's Justin Nengel won two races, notching victories in the boys 100-yard butterfly and 50-yard freestyle. Eagle swimmer Cora Summerfield won the girls 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard medley events.

Eagles Tyler Hutchins and Lauren Drumm won the boys and girls 200-yard freestyle relay races, respectively, while Griffin Gutskoska earned a win in the 100-yard freestyle.

Stephanie Verk won the girls 500-yard freestyle for Aberdeen, and teammate Marco Prezioso raced to first in the boys 100-yard backstroke. Aberdeen's Alec Steiger was winner of the boys 100-yard breaststroke.

Nengel, Steiger, Hutchins and Gutskoska won the girls 400-yard freestyle relay, while Steiger, Nengel, Hutchins and Prezioso earned a victory in the boys 200-yard medley relay.

Edgewood's Elissa Dzambasow was her team's lone individual winner, taking top honors in the girls 100-yard breaststroke.
