Harford deputies followed up on a suspicious person report Tuesday morning at a local school bus stop.
A caller in the 600 block of Holly Avenue reported around 8:26 a.m. that his son had been approached at the bus stop by Magnolia Estates, according to police calls for service. A middle school student said that when he was walking to the bus stop a man asked him to enter his vehicle, according to Harford County Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Monica Worrell.
The boy said no and when a friend pulled up, got into that vehicle and went to school, Worrell said. He then told his father who contacted deputies with a description of the vehicle.
Deputies were able to find the vehicle based on that description and spoke to the man, who said he thought the boy was his friend's child and offered him a ride, Worrell said. When he realized he was wrong, the man said he drove away, she added.
The deputies were able to confirm his story.
