Woman hurt in Street fall; investigation closed, fire spokesman says

An investigation by law enforcement is not expected regarding a Saturday incident in which a woman was injured after falling 35 feet from a zip line platform in northern Harford County.

Frank Krick, public information officer with the Whiteford Volunteer Fire Company, said Monday the fall was considered an accident, and law enforcement "very seldom" gets involved in incidents on private property, where the cause was clearly an accident.

Fire officials did not release the name of the 30-year-old victim, in accordance with privacy regulations in the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.

The incident took place on a property in the 3900 block of Grier Nursery Road in Street. Krick said the woman was not on the zip line when she fell, but instead had climbed up a tree to the platform.

A Maryland State Police rescue helicopter landed at nearby North Harford High School to pick up the victim. Krick said Sunday that the woman was in stable condition when the helicopter departed for the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
