Baltimore man held without bond for failing to register as sex offender

A Baltimore man was ordered held without bail Friday after being charged with failing to register as a sex offender.

Craig Anthony Grimmett, 41, was sentenced in January 2011 to one year and one day in jail, and two years of probation, after being found guilty of a third- and fourth-degree sex offense.

At the time, Grimmett had addresses in Perryville and Edgewood. He now lives in the 3300 block of Givens Avenue in Baltimore.

Public defender Lynne McChrystal said Grimmett has six children, runs an independent business and spends a lot of time in churches in the Aberdeen area.

He also has 10 prior charges of failing to appear in court.

Harford County District Court Judge Mimi Cooper ordered him held without bond.
