A Forest Hill man who had previously pleaded not guilty to sexual abuse charges changed his plea to guilty Thursday, prosecutors said Monday.
Brian Joseph Flynn, 38, of the 2100 block of Putnam Road, was charged July 10, 2011 with two counts sexual abuse of a minor, two counts second-degree sex offense and three counts of third-degree sex offense, two counts of second-degree assault and attempted third-degree sex offense.
At the time, a 4-year-old girl said Flynn allegedly touched her inappropriately and allegedly had her perform sexual acts on him in a hot tub, according to an Aegis article published when Flynn was charged. The girl also told investigators she knew Flynn, as did her 7-year-old brother. The brother told investigators he was allegedly forced to touch Flynn inappropriately and also saw the incident with his sister.
Flynn initially pleaded not guilty, according to a Harford County State's Attorney's Office news release; however, he changed his plea to guilty during the second day of his trial last week in Harford County Circuit Court.
The girl, who is now 5, had not testified yet, but another child who witnessed the alleged abuse testified the day before Flynn changed his plea, according to prosecutors.
Under the plea agreement, Flynn is expected to be sentenced to 45 years with all but 20 years of the sentence suspended, according to the news release.
He will also be on lifetime sexual offender supervision and required to register as one for the rest of his life. Flynn will also be required to have substance abuse and mental health treatment, according to the news release.
Once he leaves prison, Flynn will not be allowed to have unsupervised contact with children under the age of 18, according to the release.
