Woman stabbed in leg by unknown man in Aberdeen

An Aberdeen woman told police she was stabbed in the leg by an unknown man while unloading her car Friday night.

The 49-year-old woman was taking items from her vehicle in the first block of Church Green Road at about 11:35 p.m., she told police, when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her arm, according to Aberdeen Police reports.

The woman screamed and then felt a sharp pain in her leg.

The man fled toward Aberdeen Avenue.

The victim drove to the police station, where she was found to be suffering from a stab wound to the back of her leg.

She was taken to Harford Memorial Hospital, treated and released.

The only description of the suspect is a tall, black man wearing a dark-colored hoodie.

Aberdeen Police Lt. Fred Budnick said so far there's no indication the suspect and victim knew each other.

No weapon was recovered and he was not sure of the type of weapon used.

Police are also not sure of the motive or whether it was a robbery attempt, he said.

Since then, police "have increased patrols," Budnick wrote in an e-mail. "Citizens should be aware of their surrounding and report suspicious activity."
